Yesterday, I did something I’ve never done before in Montréal where I’ve lived for 25 years: plant trees.

With 30 strangers and one friend, we united to randomly, voluntarily and beautifully work together on a Sunday morning to plant 1500 trees (3800 over the weekend) for a green future.

It feels good to reconnect with earth, even better when it’s by planting trees in the neighborhood you grew up in! I wish for cities to be green, to have pure air, to have a lot of gardens for our fruits and vegetables we consume, to absorb water and balance temperatures in more efficient ways and to be more colourful and beautiful.

All of this is possible if we let nature flourish instead of destroying it as we’re doing now. And I know we could do it in smart ways so our lifestyles are still good and probably even better.

I’m always impressed by how powerful and beautiful plants are, growing from little grains to giant creatures full of life. Let’s not forget that we need them, but that they don’t need us, so let’s take care of our environment for a better world for all of us. Little gestures now for a healthier planet tomorrow.
